O púlpito da Catedral de Pisa, executado em mármore por Giovanni Pisano entre 1302 e 1311, é considerado uma obra-prima da escultura gótica italiana e um marco na transição artística da época. Filho de Nicola Pisano, Giovanni distancia-se do classicismo do pai, introduzindo um dinamismo expressivo e uma profundidade emocional inéditos nas figuras. A estrutura octogonal assenta sobre colunas sustentadas por leões e figuras bíblicas, destacando-se pelos painéis em relevo que narram episódios da vida de Cristo com intensa dramaticidade, constituindo um extenso ciclo narrativo. O púlpito, que substituiu uma obra anterior de Guglielmo, sobreviveu ao incêndio de 1595, mas foi desmontado e armazenado até 1926, quando foi remontado numa localização diferente da original. Algumas colunas foram doadas por Mussolini. A obra representa uma síntese entre a tradição clássica e o naturalismo gótico, evidenciando a inovação escultórica e a riqueza simbólica da arte na Toscana do início do século XIV.

Son of Nicola Pisano, Giovanni distances himself from his father's classicism, introducing an expressive dynamism and an unprecedented emotional depth in the figures. The octagonal structure rests on columns supported by lions and biblical figures, highlighted by the relief panels that narrate episodes from the life of Christ with intense drama, constituting an extensive narrative cycle. The pulpit, which replaced an earlier work by Guglielmo, survived the fire of 1595, but was dismantled and stored until 1926, when it was reassembled in a different location from the original. Some columns were donated by Mussolini.
