Vista do Largo do Toural antes da intervenção urbanística que alterou profundamente o seu traçado e elementos patrimoniais. Ao centro, o chafariz oitocentista, então ainda integrado no espaço público, ladeado por calçada portuguesa e enquadrado por edifícios de diferentes épocas. A remodelação posterior, concluída na década de 2000, implicou a remoção do chafariz — relocalizado noutra zona da cidade — e a substituição da calçada, gerando controvérsia entre os habitantes, que viam no largo um símbolo identitário da cidade histórica. A imagem documenta um momento anterior à reconfiguração, preservando visualmente a relação entre património, vivência urbana e memória coletiva.

View of Largo do Toural before the urban intervention that profoundly altered its layout and heritage elements. In the center, the 19th-century fountain, then still integrated into the public space, flanked by Portuguese pavement and framed by buildings from different eras. The subsequent remodeling, completed in the 2000s, involved the removal of the fountain — relocated to another area of the city — and the replacement of the sidewalk, generating controversy among the inhabitants, who saw the square as a symbol of the historic city's identity. The image documents a moment before the reconfiguration, visually preserving the relationship between heritage, urban experience and collective memory.
