A Memória Marítima de Nyhavn
No canal de Nyhavn, em Copenhaga, vê-se a frente contínua de casas mercantis dos séculos XVII e XVIII, com fachadas estreitas e telhados de duas águas em telha cerâmica, pensadas para lotes urbanos reduzidos e para armazenagem junto à água. Nyhavn (“porto novo”) foi escavado entre 1671 e 1673 para ligar o centro da cidade ao porto, facilitando o desembarque de mercadorias e a circulação de marinheiros e comerciantes. As antigas docas em madeira e pedra, hoje adaptadas a passeio público, mantêm a leitura do antigo cais, enquanto os restaurantes e esplanadas ocupam o rés‑do‑chão, retomando a tradição de atividade portuária, agora turística.
Along the Nyhavn canal in Copenhagen, one can see a continuous row of 17th- and 18th-century merchant houses, with narrow facades and gabled roofs covered in ceramic tiles, designed for small urban lots and for storage along the waterfront. Nyhavn (“new harbor”) was excavated between 1671 and 1673 to connect the city center to the harbor, facilitating the unloading of goods and the movement of sailors and merchants. The old wooden and stone docks, now converted into a public promenade, retain the character of the old wharf, while restaurants and outdoor seating occupy the ground floor, reviving the tradition of port activity—now as a tourist attraction.
