Pelas Ruas de Granito de Linhares da Beira
Uma das ruas estreitas e calcetadas da aldeia histórica de Linhares da Beira, situada no concelho de Celorico da Beira, distrito da Guarda, na vertente norte da Serra da Estrela. Integrada na Rede das Aldeias Históricas de Portugal, Linhares conserva um traçado urbano de matriz medieval, com habitações erguidas em alvenaria de granito local, característica do planalto beirão. As fachadas exibem cantarias rústicas, janelas com portadas interiores e pequenos nichos votivos, testemunhos da arquitetura vernacular serrana. O pavimento combina calçada irregular nas faixas laterais com lajes de granito ao centro, solução tradicional que facilita a circulação pedonal em terreno declivoso. Documentada desde a Idade Média, a povoação recebeu foral de D. Afonso Henriques em 1169 e desempenhou funções defensivas associadas ao seu castelo gótico, cujo atual traçado gótico resulta de importantes obras de reformulação realizadas no reinado de D. Dinis. Atualmente, o conjunto edificado encontra-se classificado e constitui um importante núcleo de turismo cultural e patrimonial na região da Beira Interior.
One of the narrow, cobblestone streets of the historic village of Linhares da Beira, located in the municipality of Celorico da Beira, in the district of Guarda, on the northern slope of the Serra da Estrela. Part of the Network of Historic Villages of Portugal, Linhares preserves a medieval urban layout, with houses built of local granite masonry, characteristic of the Beira plateau. The facades feature rustic stonework, windows with interior shutters, and small votive niches, all hallmarks of the region’s vernacular mountain architecture. The pavement combines irregular cobblestones along the sides with granite slabs in the center, a traditional solution that facilitates pedestrian traffic on sloping terrain. Documented since the Middle Ages, the village received a charter from King Afonso Henriques in 1169 and served defensive functions associated with its Gothic castle, whose current Gothic layout is the result of major renovations carried out during the reign of King Dinis. Today, the built complex is classified as a historic site and constitutes an important hub for cultural and heritage tourism in the Beira Interior region.
