A Ponte Pedro e Inês, inaugurada em 2007 em Coimbra, é uma estrutura pedonal e ciclável de 275 metros que une as margens do Parque Verde do Mondego. Projetada por Adão da Fonseca e Cecil Balmond, distingue-se pela sua arquitetura singular que desafia a linearidade tradicional. O tabuleiro em madeira e a estrutura em aço culminam numa praça central suspensa, simbolizando a separação dos amantes D. Pedro e Inês de Castro, cuja história está profundamente ligada à cidade. As guardas em vidro laminado, com tons de amarelo, azul, verde e rosa, criam padrões geométricos que filtram a luz solar, alterando a perceção cromática do percurso e enquadrando a paisagem urbana. A ponte integra-se na requalificação das margens do Mondego, promovendo a mobilidade suave e oferecendo vistas panorâmicas sobre o rio e a Universidade de Coimbra, no topo da colina, tornando-se um ícone arquitetónico da cidade.

The Pedro and Inês Bridge, inaugurated in 2007 in Coimbra, is a 275-meter pedestrian and bicycle bridge that connects the banks of the Mondego Green Park. Designed by Adão da Fonseca and Cecil Balmond, it stands out for its unique architecture that challenges traditional linearity. The wooden deck and steel structure culminate in a suspended central square, symbolizing the separation of the lovers D. Pedro and Inês de Castro, whose story is deeply linked to the city. The laminated glass railings, in shades of yellow, blue, green, and pink, create geometric patterns that filter sunlight, altering the chromatic perception of the route and framing the urban landscape. The bridge is part of the redevelopment of the banks of the Mondego River, promoting soft mobility and offering panoramic views of the river and the University of Coimbra at the top of the hill, becoming an architectural icon of the city.
