A Mata de Albergaria, no coração do Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês, exibe uma paisagem outonal rica em biodiversidade. Este carvalhal secular, um dos mais bem preservados da Península Ibérica, revela a transição sazonal através das cores quentes da folhagem caduca de carvalhos-alvarinho e negral. Um tronco caído, revestido de musgo, repousa sobre um ribeiro, exemplificando a dinâmica natural da floresta e a importância da matéria orgânica em decomposição para a renovação do solo e o sustento de invertebrados, fungos e micro-organismos. A água reflete o arvoredo e a presença de azevinho perene contrasta com os tons outonais. Classificada como Reserva Biogenética e integrada na Reserva da Biosfera Gerês-Xurés, a Mata de Albergaria conjuga valor natural com património histórico, nomeadamente um troço conservado da via romana Geira. A abundância de madeira morta é vital para a preservação de espécies autóctones e a manutenção da biodiversidade local.

The Albergaria Forest, in the heart of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, exhibits an autumn landscape rich in biodiversity. This centuries-old oak grove, one of the best preserved in the Iberian Peninsula, reveals the seasonal transition through the warm colors of the deciduous foliage of Portuguese oaks and black oaks. A fallen trunk, covered with moss, rests on a stream, exemplifying the natural dynamics of the forest and the importance of decomposing organic matter for soil renewal and the sustenance of invertebrates, fungi and microorganisms. The water reflects the trees and the presence of perennial holly contrasts with the autumn tones. Classified as a Biogenetic Reserve and integrated into the Gerês-Xurés Biosphere Reserve, the Albergaria Forest combines natural value with historical heritage, namely a preserved section of the Geira Roman road. The abundance of dead wood is vital for the preservation of native species and the maintenance of local biodiversity.
