Riomaggiore, a localidade mais meridional das Cinque Terre, localiza-se na costa da Ligúria, Itália, e ergue-se num vale escavado pela ribeira Rivus Major, nome do qual deriva. Este antigo burgo, fundado no século XIII, apresenta casas-torre de estilo genovês, dispostas em socalcos ao longo de encostas íngremes, ligadas por escadarias e vielas. O pequeno porto, aninhado entre as rochas, serve como base para a pesca local, enquanto as vinhas em terraços na zona superior refletem uma tradição agrícola milenar, destacando-se pela produção do vinho Sciacchetrà. Riomaggiore, juntamente com as outras vilas da região, destaca-se pela sua singularidade cultural, evidenciada pela harmonia entre o ambiente construído e a natureza, fatores que levaram à sua classificação como Património Mundial da UNESCO em 1997. Riomaggiore, the southernmost town in the Cinque Terre, is located on the Ligurian coast of Italy and stands in a valley carved out by the Rivus Major stream, from which it takes its name. This ancient village, founded in the 13th century, features Genoese-style tower houses, arranged in terraces along steep slopes, connected by stairways and alleys. The small port, nestled among the rocks, serves as a base for local fishing, while the terraced vineyards in the upper area reflect a thousand-year-old agricultural tradition, notable for the production of Sciacchetrà wine. Riomaggiore, together with the other villages in the region, stands out for its cultural uniqueness, evidenced by the harmony between the built environment and nature, factors that led to its classification as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
