Vista panorâmica de Génova, a partir da Spianata di Castelletto, miradouro situado numa colina central que oferece uma perspetiva privilegiada sobre a cidade. Da Spianata, acessível por elevador Art Nouveau ou a pé, avista-se o Porto Antigo, requalificado por Renzo Piano na década de 1990 e onde atracam navios de cruzeiro e ferries. O extenso centro histórico, um dos maiores da Europa, com os seus edifícios compactos em tons pastel e característicos telhados de ardósia, estende-se pelas encostas até ao mar, ilustrando a geografia vertical da cidade. A Torre Lanterna, símbolo de Génova, destaca-se no porto. A cidade, antiga e poderosa república marítima mediterrânica (séculos XI-XV), com uma forte tradição mercantil e naval, mantém o seu legado, sendo hoje capital da Ligúria e detentora de um centro histórico classificado como Património Mundial da UNESCO.

The Lanterna Tower, symbol of Genoa, stands out in the harbor. The city, former and powerful Mediterranean maritime republic (XI-XV centuries), with a strong mercantile and naval tradition, maintains its legacy, being today the capital of Liguria and holder of a historic center classified as World Heritage by UNESCO.
