Pedra sobre Pedra: O Silêncio Medieval de Linhares da Beira
Rua estreita de Linhares da Beira, aldeia histórica situada no concelho de Celorico da Beira, distrito da Guarda, integrada na Rede de Aldeias Históricas de Portugal. O traçado urbano medieval, característico das povoações fortificadas da Beira Interior, desenvolve-se em ruelas sinuosas pavimentadas com calçada irregular de granito, material extraído localmente das encostas da Serra da Estrela. As habitações, construídas em alvenaria de pedra granítica aparelhada a seco ou com argamassa de cal, apresentam paredes espessas que asseguram o isolamento térmico face aos rigores climáticos do Planalto Beirão. Linhares recebeu foral em 1169, atribuído por D. Afonso Henriques, e o seu castelo, erguido sobre afloramentos rochosos, integrava a linha defensiva do vale do Mondego. O candeeiro de ferro forjado, fixado à fachada, evoca a iluminação pública tradicional. A preservação do casario, com beirados de telha cerâmica e cantarias trabalhadas, testemunha a continuidade dos métodos construtivos vernaculares transmitidos ao longo de gerações nesta região raiana.
A narrow street in Linhares da Beira, a historic village located in the municipality of Celorico da Beira, in the district of Guarda, and part of the Network of Historic Villages of Portugal. The medieval urban layout, characteristic of the fortified settlements of Beira Interior, unfolds along winding alleys paved with irregular granite cobblestones, a material extracted locally from the slopes of the Serra da Estrela. The houses, built of granite stone masonry laid dry or with lime mortar, feature thick walls that provide thermal insulation against the harsh climate of the Beira Plateau. Linhares received its charter in 1169, granted by Afonso Henriques, and its castle, built on rocky outcrops, was part of the defensive line of the Mondego Valley. The wrought-iron streetlamp, affixed to the façade, evokes traditional street lighting. The preservation of the houses, with ceramic-tiled eaves and carved stonework, bears witness to the continuity of vernacular construction methods passed down through generations in this border region.
