Villatuerta e o Caminho Francês: Legado de uma Ponte Medieval
Ponte medieval sobre o rio Iranzu, localizada à entrada de Villatuerta, na comunidade foral de Navarra, Espanha. Trata-se de uma infraestrutura histórica fundamental no itinerário do Caminho Francês de Santiago, situando-se pouco antes da chegada à cidade de Estella. Arquitetonicamente, a construção em alvenaria de pedra destaca-se pelos seus dois arcos robustos e pelo talhamar central de forma triangular, um elemento técnico essencial para dividir o fluxo da água e garantir a estabilidade dos pilares contra a força da corrente. Medieval bridge over the Iranzu River, located at the entrance to Villatuerta, in the autonomous community of Navarre, Spain. It is a fundamental historical infrastructure on the French Way of Saint James, located just before the arrival in the city of Estella. Architecturally, the stone masonry construction stands out for its two robust arches and the central triangular-shaped weir, an essential technical element to divide the flow of water and ensure the stability of the pillars against the force of the current. The bridge not only serves as a physical crossing, but also represents a testament to medieval civil engineering developed to support the Jacobean pilgrimage, facilitating religious and commercial mobility across the north of the Iberian Peninsula.
