Um passeio neoclássico sobre o antigo Real
Os Jardins do Real, também conhecidos como Jardins de Viveros, são um dos principais espaços verdes públicos de Valência e ocupam, em grande parte, o terreno onde se situava o antigo Palácio do Real, demolido em 1810 durante a Guerra da Independência. Ao longo do século XIX, o recinto foi sendo configurado como jardim de recreio, e no início do século XX acolheu o viveiro municipal, origem do nome atual “Viveros”. Entre os elementos arquitetónicos que pontuam este jardim destaca‑se uma pérgula semicircular com colunas de ordem jónica, que enquadra um pequeno lago e se integra no programa decorativo implementado no parque ao longo do século XX. O teto em estrutura de madeira e rede metálica sustenta as videiras que se enroscam nas colunas, criando um jogo de sombras que reforça o caráter romântico deste recanto. O pavimento em tijoleira, disposto em padrão diagonal, contribui para a sensação de continuidade entre a arquitetura clássica da pérgula e a vegetação envolvente.
The Real Gardens, also known as the Viveros Gardens, are one of Valencia's main public green spaces and occupy most of the site where the old Royal Palace once stood, demolished in 1810 during the War of Independence. Throughout the 19th century, the site was gradually transformed into a recreational garden, and in the early 20th century it became home to the municipal nursery, hence its current name, “Viveros.” Among the architectural elements that punctuate this garden is a semicircular pergola with Ionic columns, which frames a small lake and is part of the decorative program implemented in the park throughout the 20th century. The wooden and metal mesh roof supports the vines that twine around the columns, creating a play of shadows that reinforces the romantic character of this corner. The brick paving, laid in a diagonal pattern, contributes to the feeling of continuity between the classical architecture of the pergola and the surrounding vegetation.
