Sob o Arco Ogival: Memória Medieval na Calle San Saturnino
O portal da Igreja de São Saturnino (San Cernin), voltado para a Rua de São Saturnino, em Pamplona, evidencia a linguagem gótica que marcou a ampliação do templo entre os séculos XIII e XIV, num bairro ligado ao comércio e à presença de peregrinos do Caminho de Santiago. A entrada é organizada por um arco apontado profundo, composto por várias arquivoltas molduradas que conduzem o olhar até ao tímpano escultórico: um relevo com figura central entronizada, ladeada por outras personagens, funcionando como programa catequético visível a quem chegava da rua. As colunetas e os capitéis exibem decoração figurativa e vegetal, típica da oficina medieval, enquanto o pano de pedra em aparelho regular reforça a robustez defensiva atribuída a alguns templos urbanos da época. A porta de madeira pregada com ferragens e o lanço de degraus sublinham o limiar entre espaço público e espaço litúrgico.

The entrance is organized by a deep pointed arch, composed of several molded archivolts that lead the eye to the sculptural tympanum: a relief with an enthroned central figure, flanked by other characters, functioning as a catechetical program visible to those arriving from the street. The small columns and capitals display figurative and vegetal decoration, typical of medieval workshops, while the regular stonework reinforces the defensive robustness attributed to some urban temples of the time. The wooden door nailed with iron fittings and the flight of steps underline the threshold between public and liturgical space.
