A Capela de Nossa Senhora da Penha de França, situada no complexo da Vista Alegre em Ílhavo, constitui um exemplar notável da arquitetura religiosa portuguesa de finais do século XVII, com campanhas decorativas barrocas setecentistas. O interior revela uma conjugação de elementos decorativos característicos do barroco português, destacando‑se os painéis de azulejaria azul e branca que revestem as paredes laterais, representando cenas da vida de Nossa Senhora segundo a tradição da azulejaria portuguesa. O retábulo‑mor apresenta talha dourada de gramática barroca, enquadrando um conjunto escultórico central. A abóbada da capela‑mor exibe pintura mural de temática religiosa. O conjunto integra ainda o túmulo de D. Manuel de Moura Manuel, bispo de Miranda do Douro, que mandou edificar a capela no final do século XVII. Esta capela integra o património da Fábrica de Porcelana da Vista Alegre, fundada em 1824, tendo servido a comunidade ligada à manufatura.
The Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Penha de França, located in the Vista Alegre complex in Ílhavo, is a remarkable example of late 17th-century Portuguese religious architecture, with 18th-century Baroque decorative features. The interior reveals a combination of decorative elements characteristic of Portuguese Baroque, notably the blue and white tile panels covering the side walls, depicting scenes from the life of Our Lady according to the tradition of Portuguese tile work. The main altarpiece features gilded woodcarving in the Baroque style, framing a central sculptural ensemble. The vault of the chancel displays a mural painting with a religious theme. The ensemble also includes the tomb of D. Manuel de Moura Manuel, bishop of Miranda do Douro, who had the chapel built at the end of the 17th century. This chapel is part of the heritage of the Vista Alegre Porcelain Factory, founded in 1824, and served the community linked to its manufacture.
