Porto Covo: Um Legado de Cor e Tradição
A arquitetura vernacular de Porto Covo, uma vila piscatória
no concelho de Sines, destaca-se pela sua sobriedade e funcionalidade,
refletindo tradições que remontam ao século XVIII. As casas térreas, caiadas de
branco, possuem barras azuis na base, uma tradição que não apenas realça a
estética, mas também afasta a humidade e simboliza a ligação ao mar. As
aberturas em cantaria, telhados em telha de canudo e janelas estreitas
adaptam-se ao clima atlântico. A paleta de cores, que inclui o vermelho das portas
e janelas, forma parte de um código visual relacionado com as atividades
locais. O planeamento urbanístico da aldeia, influenciado pelo iluminismo
pombalino, assegura uma homogeneidade estética, preservando um património
cultural que une a funcionalidade rural às tradições marítimas. Integrada no
Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano, esta edificação não só documenta a
história da região como a torna um destino apreciado pela autenticidade da sua
paisagem construída.
The vernacular architecture of Porto Covo, a fishing village in the municipality of Sines, stands out for its simplicity and functionality, reflecting traditions that date back to the 18th century.
