Vilarinho da Furna: A Aldeia emersa do tempo

As ruínas da aldeia de Vilarinho da Furna, situadas no concelho de Terras de Bouro, emergem esporadicamente das águas da albufeira da barragem homónima, especialmente em períodos de seca, como ocorreu em 2005. Submersa desde 1971, a aldeia, de origem medieval, abrigava cerca de 300 habitantes forçados a abandonar as suas casas e terras devido à construção da barragem. A vida em Vilarinho da Furna era organizada por uma "Junta" que geria os bens coletivos da comunidade. As estruturas visíveis, construídas em pedra, remanescem da arquitetura tradicional da região, permitindo uma reflexão sobre a transformação da paisagem e o impacto da intervenção humana. Para preservar a memória desta comunidade agropastoril e do seu sistema de gestão coletiva, foi inaugurado em 1989 o Museu Etnográfico de Vilarinho da Furna, construído com pedras recuperadas da aldeia, testemunhando o legado cultural que subsiste, mesmo submerso.

The ruins of the village of Vilarinho da Furna, located in the municipality of Terras de Bouro, sporadically emerge from the waters of the reservoir of the dam of the same name, especially during periods of drought, as occurred in 2005. Submerged since 1971, the village, of medieval origin, was home to about 300 inhabitants who were forced to abandon their homes and lands due to the construction of the dam. Life in Vilarinho da Furna was organized by a “Junta” (council) that managed the community's collective assets. The visible structures, built in stone, remain from the traditional architecture of the region, allowing for reflection on the transformation of the landscape and the impact of human intervention. To preserve the memory of this agro-pastoral community and its collective management system, the Ethnographic Museum of Vilarinho da Furna was inaugurated in 1989, built with stones recovered from the village, bearing witness to the cultural legacy that remains, even submerged.
