Situada no ponto mais alto do centro histórico de Cáceres, Património Mundial da UNESCO, a Plaza de las Veletas é um espaço emblemático com origens na antiga alcáçova almóada. O Palácio de las Veletas, com traços renascentistas dos séculos XVI-XVIII, domina a praça e abriga o Museu de Cáceres, que expõe coleções de arqueologia, etnografia e belas-artes, desde a pré-história até à arte contemporânea espanhola, incluindo obras de Picasso, Miró e Tàpies. Um dos seus maiores tesouros é o aljibe andalusino dos séculos XI-XII, considerado um dos mais bem preservados da Península Ibérica, com as suas cinco naves de arcos de ferradura. A praça, com o seu pavimento em calçada e edifícios históricos, reflete a continuidade da ocupação urbana desde a antiguidade e acolhe mercados artesanais, evidenciando a vida ativa e tradicional de Cáceres.

Located at the highest point of the historic center of Cáceres, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Plaza de las Veletas is an emblematic space with origins in the old Almohad citadel. The Palacio de las Veletas, with Renaissance features from the 16th-18th centuries, dominates the square and houses the Cáceres Museum, which exhibits collections of archaeology, ethnography and fine arts, from prehistory to contemporary Spanish art, including works by Picasso, Miró and Tàpies. One of its greatest treasures is the 11th-12th century Andalusian cistern, considered one of the best preserved in the Iberian Peninsula, with its five naves of horseshoe arches. The square, with its cobblestone pavement and historic buildings, reflects the continuity of urban occupation since antiquity and hosts artisanal markets, highlighting the active and traditional life of Cáceres.
