A aldeia de Quintandona, localizada no concelho de Penafiel e integrada na freguesia de Lagares e Figueira, é um exemplo notável de preservação do património rural em Portugal. Caracterizada por uma arquitetura tradicional em xisto, granito e lousa, a aldeia remete a tempos passados e é um dos núcleos mais bem conservados da área metropolitana do Porto. A imagem de uma árvore despida, adornada com vasos contendo plantas ornamentais, ilustra a criatividade dos habitantes na valorização estética do espaço público, transformando a árvore num jardim suspenso. Esta prática de aproveitar verticalmente o espaço é comum nas comunidades rurais do norte de Portugal, onde os quintais são limitados. 

The village of Quintandona, located in the municipality of Penafiel and part of the parish of Lagares e Figueira, is a remarkable example of the preservation of rural heritage in Portugal. Characterized by traditional architecture in schist, granite and slate, the village harks back to times past and is one of the best preserved nuclei in the Porto metropolitan area. The image of a bare tree, adorned with pots containing ornamental plants, illustrates the creativity of the inhabitants in the aesthetic enhancement of the public space, transforming the tree into a hanging garden. This practice of using space vertically is common in rural communities in the north of Portugal, where backyards are limited.
