Apesar do nome ("Ponte Nova"), a Pont Neuf é a mais antiga ponte de Paris a cruzar o Sena, ligando a margem direita à margem esquerda através da Île de la Cité. Iniciada em 1578 e concluída em 1607 sob os reinados de Henrique III e Henrique IV, representou um avanço na engenharia parisiense ao ser a primeira ponte em pedra sem construções sobre o seu tabuleiro, uma característica inovadora para a época. Com um total de doze arcos, a sua estrutura inclui 384 mascarões decorativos nas cornijas, representando divindades mitológicas. No centro da ponte, junto à Île de la Cité, encontra-se uma estátua equestre de Henrique IV, uma réplica da original destruída durante a Revolução Francesa. Atualmente classificada como Monumento Histórico e Património Mundial da UNESCO, a Pont Neuf continua a ser um ponto de encontro central e um local privilegiado para contemplar o coração histórico de Paris.

Despite its name ("New Bridge"), the Pont Neuf is the oldest bridge in Paris to cross the Seine, linking the right bank to the left bank through the Île de la Cité. Begun in 1578 and completed in 1607 under the reigns of Henry III and Henry IV, it represented an advance in Parisian engineering as it was the first stone bridge without buildings on its deck, an innovative feature for the time. With a total of twelve arches, its structure includes 384 decorative mascarons on the cornices, representing mythological deities. In the center of the bridge, next to the Île de la Cité, is an equestrian statue of Henry IV, a replica of the original destroyed during the French Revolution. Currently classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pont Neuf remains a central meeting point and a privileged place to contemplate the historic heart of Paris.
