Em frente à Igreja de São João de Puerta Nueva, na Plaza Mayor de Zamora, ergue-se o monumento ao "Merlú", uma escultura em bronze criada pelo artista local Antonio Pedrero Yéboles e inaugurada em 1996. A obra homenageia os membros da Confraria de Jesus Nazareno que, durante a madrugada da Sexta-feira Santa, percorrem a cidade a tocar tambor e corneta, convocando os confrades para a procissão. A escultura representa os dois irmãos, um com a corneta e outro com o tambor, vestidos com as túnicas e capuzes característicos. O conjunto sublinha a importância da Semana Santa de Zamora, classificada como de Interesse Turístico Internacional, e a sua ligação ao património histórico da cidade, personificado pela Igreja de São João de Puerta Nueva, um templo românico construído entre os séculos XII e XIII e um dos ícones de Zamora, notável pela sua rosácea.

Opposite the Church of San Juan de Puerta Nueva, in Zamora's Plaza Mayor, stands the monument to “Merlú,” a bronze sculpture created by local artist Antonio Pedrero Yéboles and unveiled in 1996. The work pays tribute to the members of the Brotherhood of Jesus Nazareno who, during the early hours of Good Friday, walk through the city playing drums and horns, summoning their fellow brothers to the procession. The sculpture depicts the two brothers, one with a horn and the other with a drum, dressed in their characteristic tunics and hoods. The ensemble highlights the importance of Holy Week in Zamora, classified as of International Tourist Interest, and its connection to the city's historical heritage, personified by the Church of San Juan de Puerta Nueva, a Romanesque temple built between the 12th and 13th centuries and one of the icons of Zamora, notable for its rose window.
