Na aldeia de Freixeda do Torrão, concelho de Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, ergue-se a Torre e Solar dos Metelos, um conjunto arquitetónico classificado como Imóvel de Interesse Público desde 1977. A torre, com planta quadrangular em cantaria e datada do final da Idade Média, exibe elementos defensivos típicos das torres senhoriais portuguesas, como os varandins com mata-cães salientes. No século XVII, a estrutura foi ampliada com a construção do solar brasonado, transformando-se numa residência nobre. Este conjunto reflete a adaptação de uma construção militar medieval a uma função residencial de uma família da pequena nobreza local, ilustrando a transição da Idade Média para a Época Moderna no contexto rural beirão e o papel destas famílias na administração territorial durante o Antigo Regime.

In the village of Freixeda do Torrão, in the municipality of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, stands the Torre e Solar dos Metelos, an architectural complex classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1977. The tower, with a quadrangular plan in stonework and dating from the late Middle Ages, displays defensive elements typical of Portuguese manorial towers, such as the balconies with protruding dog-bats. In the 17th century, the structure was enlarged with the construction of the emblazoned manor house, which became a noble residence. This ensemble reflects the adaptation of a medieval military building to a residential function for a family of the local nobility, illustrating the transition from the Middle Ages to the Modern Period in the rural context of Beira and the role of these families in territorial administration during the Ancien Régime.
