Originalmente parte de um colégio jesuíta, a igreja distingue-se pelas suas duas torres simétricas com remate cónico e pela fachada ornamentada com relevos religiosos. Desconsagrada, a igreja integra atualmente o centro de exposições Fundación Mercedes Calles y Carlos Ballestero, albergando exposições e eventos culturais que dinamizam o espaço e contribuem para a valorização do património arquitetónico local. A praça circundante, pavimentada em pedra, é um dos locais emblemáticos da cidade, complementada pela estátua de San Jorge e o dragão, simbolizando o patrono da cidade.

The Church of San Francisco Javier, an example of 18th-century Baroque architecture, dominates the Plaza de San Jorge in the heart of the historic center of Cáceres, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Originally part of a Jesuit college, the church is distinguished by its two symmetrical towers with conical tops and its façade decorated with religious reliefs. Deconsecrated, the church is now part of the Fundación Mercedes Calles y Carlos Ballestero exhibition center, hosting exhibitions and cultural events that enliven the space and contribute to the appreciation of the local architectural heritage. The surrounding square, paved in stone, is one of the city's landmarks, complemented by the statue of San Jorge and the dragon, symbolizing the city's patron saint.
