A estrada rural que liga a vila histórica de Castelo Rodrigo ao Convento de Santa Maria de Aguiar, no concelho de Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, atravessa uma paisagem característica do planalto duriense, marcada por campos agrícolas, olivais e vegetação mediterrânica, como carvalhos e oliveiras. Este percurso oferece vistas panorâmicas sobre o vale do rio Côa e é um reflexo do elevado valor patrimonial e paisagístico da região, próxima do Parque Natural do Douro Internacional. Classificado como Monumento Nacional, o Convento de Santa Maria de Aguiar é um exemplar de arquitetura gótica primitiva, com origem cisterciense e fundado no século XII, que destaca a importância histórica da presença cisterciense na área durante os séculos XII-XIII.

The rural road that connects the historic town of Castelo Rodrigo to the Convent of Santa Maria de Aguiar, in the municipality of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, crosses a characteristic landscape of the Douro plateau, marked by agricultural fields, olive groves and Mediterranean vegetation such as oak and olive trees. This route offers panoramic views over the Côa river valley and is a reflection of the high heritage and landscape value of the region, close to the Douro International Natural Park. Classified as a National Monument, the Convent of Santa Maria de Aguiar is an example of early Gothic architecture, with Cistercian origins and founded in the 12th century, which highlights the historical importance of the Cistercian presence in the area during the 12th-13th centuries.
