A região de Castelo Melhor, freguesia de Vila Nova de Foz Côa, oferece um espetáculo único durante a floração das amendoeiras, entre fevereiro e março. Situada na zona das arribas do Douro Superior, com um microclima mediterrânico ideal para o cultivo, esta paisagem transforma-se num mar de flores brancas e rosadas que cobre as encostas, integrando-se no Parque Arqueológico do Vale do Côa, Património Mundial da UNESCO. Este fenómeno sazonal, além da sua beleza inegável, representa uma importante tradição agrícola e cultural da região, associada à produção de amêndoa e celebrada anualmente em festivais locais. A floração das amendoeiras contribui significativamente para a economia local, atraindo visitantes e integrando-se na Rota das Amendoeiras, destacando-se como um elemento-chave do turismo e da agricultura do nordeste transmontano.

The region of Castelo Melhor, in the parish of Vila Nova de Foz Côa, offers a unique spectacle during the flowering of the almond trees, between February and March. Located on the cliffs of the Upper Douro, with a Mediterranean microclimate ideal for cultivation, this landscape is transformed into a sea of white and pink flowers that covers the hillsides, forming part of the Côa Valley Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition to its undeniable beauty, this seasonal phenomenon represents an important agricultural and cultural tradition in the region, associated with almond production and celebrated annually in local festivals. The flowering of the almond trees contributes significantly to the local economy, attracting visitors and becoming part of the Almond Route, standing out as a key element of tourism and agriculture in the north-east of Trás-os-Montes.
